Planning a trip to Costa Rica isn’t difficult, especially with our team here to help you. However, there are a few things you can do to make planning your trip even easier and less stressful, and ultimately, your trip more enjoyable. There are four basic steps to planning your Costa Rica trip:

  1. Research Costa Rica and Activities
  2. Determine Your Vacation Dates
  3. Select Destinations, Book Accommodations and Activities
  4. Pack and Prepare Accordingly

Step 1: Research Costa Rica and Activities

The first thing you need to do before planning a Costa Rica vacation is some homework. First, research Costa Rica and make sure it is where you want to visit. Costa Rica is humid, with lots of jungle, wildlife, insects and more. If any of these are not appealing to you, Costa Rica may not be the right destination (but we’re sure if you visited, you’d fall in love).

Once you’re sure Costa Rica is the right place for your to visit, you need to research some activities. Costa Rica has a lot to do and see, and not prioritizing your activities and destinations can lead to a lot of frustration. If you’re scared of heights, a jungle zipline might not be for you. If you want to relax on the beach, make sure you schedule some time for that.

Step 2: Determine Your Vacation Dates

After you have decided on Costa Rica, you need to determine your vacation dates. Costa Rica has two main seasons. The dry season runs from December to April, and the rainy season is from May to November. Since the weather can impact your activities, make sure you choose dates that will work best with your desired activities.

Step 3: Select Destinations, Book Accommodations and Activities

You’ve selected the dates for your trip, it’s now time to book your Costa Rica destinations, book your accommodations and activities. If you want to book these yourself, you can typically do that directly with the hotel/resort, activity director, etc. However, if you want to make it stress free, a vacation booked with us will ensure the best accommodations, activities, and an itinerary that maximizes your budget and time.

Step 4: Pack and Prepare Accordingly

Now that your trip is planned, you need to pack accordingly. Your itinerary should determine what you need to pack, but there are some basics we recommend every Costa Rica traveler bring:

  • Passport/identification/wallet
  • Money & back up card seperate from wallet/main money
  • Rain Gear
  • Insect Repellent
  • Emergency contact info
