Covid-19 Travel Restrictions Update

*Important Update*

***This rule is currently being contested in the Costa Rican court system.  We will update the post with more information as it becomes available.  Currently, each lodging, restaurant or tour provider is deciding individually if they are requiring the vaccine, or if they will operate at 50% capacity.***

Starting February 8, 2022 only people who are verifiably fully-vaccinated against Covid-19 will be allowed to travel with public tour providers, including adventure tourism, hotels, restaurants, and resorts in Costa Rica. This must be verified by means of a QR code or the printed vaccination certificate. This requirement applies to all patrons 18 years of age and older.

Exceptions to the presentation of the QR code of the vaccination certificate to enter commercial establishments are as follows:

  1. Children under 18 years of age.
  2. Tourists who have a medical condition, duly accredited, that makes it impossible to apply any vaccine approved by the Ministry of Health of Costa Rica.

For more information, please visit Costa Rica’s Official Entry Requirements and view the FAQ link at the bottom of the page.
