Travel Restriction Updates August 1, 2021

Covid-19 travel policies and updates to how these restrictions affect your travel plans.

Great news! Costa Rica has updated their international travel policies which helps vaccinated individuals enter the country even easier.

As of Aug 1, 2021 individuals under the age of 18 and individuals that have received the Covid-19 vaccines from Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson are not required to purchase the required Covid-19 insurance in order to enter Costa Rica.

If you have not been vaccinated, or can not prove your vaccination you are still required to purchase Covid-19 insurance.  Your vaccination card will be checked upon arrival in Costa Rica. The final dose of your vaccine must have been administered 14 days prior to landing in Costa Rica.  Even if you fit these qualifications, we still recommend that you purchase travel insurance just to be on the safe side.

Prior to August 1, 2021 or if you have not received your vaccine, you will still need to purchase Covid-19 insurance covering $50,000 in medical costs and $2,000 in lodging costs.  This insurance can be purchased through the government of other international insurance agencies.  More information regarding insurance can be found at https://www.visitcostarica.com or talk to our of our Costa Rica Travel Specialists.

Please note that all air passengers returning to the United States, including U.S. citizens and fully vaccinated people, are required to have a negative COVID-19 test result no more than 3 days before travel or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 in the past 3 months before they board a flight to the United States.  Certain airlines are offering inexpensive and easy Covid-19 tests that you do from your hotel with an online prompter, these are great approved options.  We are also happy to set up a Covid-19 test for you and your fellow travelers at the local clinics and hospitals.
